Brand typography audit
Find the problem before drawing a new font.
An independent review of the fonts, hierarchy, licences, languages and real applications that shape how the brand is read. The result is a prioritised roadmap—not an automatic recommendation to redesign everything.
Discuss an audit
What the audit checks
One system, reviewed from ownership to application.
Inventory
Which typefaces, weights, files and substitutes are being used by which teams and suppliers.
Hierarchy
Whether roles, sizes, emphasis and reading order remain coherent across brand and product communication.
Licences
Visible licence and file-use risks are identified for confirmation with the relevant foundry or legal adviser.
Languages
Required characters, Lithuanian and other diacritics, scripts and localisation pressure points are tested.
Applications
Packaging, presentations, campaigns, signage and selected digital uses are reviewed at real sizes.
Roadmap
Keep, replace, adapt or commission custom work—prioritised by impact, risk, effort and timing.
Deliverable
A decision document the brand can act on.
- 01
Collect
Brand guidelines, font files and licences where available, templates, packaging artwork and representative applications.
- 02
Test
Review the current system against agreed languages, formats, teams and practical edge cases.
- 03
Prioritise
Separate urgent compliance or usability risks from visual opportunities and long-term improvements.
- 04
Decide
Present the findings, recommended scope, dependencies and a staged implementation route.
Two ways to engage
A second opinion for the brand. A specialist layer for the agency.
CMO or brand lead: use the audit when the current identity is not working, the organisation has received conflicting recommendations or another full redesign feels premature.
Agency or design studio: bring Twelve Moons into the project discreetly for the audit, type direction, custom lettering or broader type system. White-label and credited collaboration are scoped explicitly.
A focused audit typically falls between €3,000 and €5,000 excluding VAT and includes a defined evidence pack, one working session and one decision readout. Additional stakeholder workshops are quoted as separate deliverables, not billed as unexplained meetings.

Clear limits make the findings useful.
Does an audit automatically lead to a custom typeface?
No. The right recommendation may be to keep the current family, correct the hierarchy, fix licensing, change only one role or commission a limited custom asset.
Is this a legal font-licensing audit?
No. Twelve Moons identifies visible inconsistencies and questions for confirmation. Formal legal interpretation remains with the relevant foundry, distributor or legal adviser.
Can packaging be the main audit scope?
Yes. A product range can be reviewed for front-of-pack hierarchy, small type, language variants, print constraints and consistency across formats.
Who implements the recommendations?
Twelve Moons can implement the visual system. Specialist font engineering or additional-language production is scoped with an appropriate collaborator when required.
Start with evidence
Send the current system, not a perfect brief.
Guidelines, font names, a few representative files, required languages and the applications that fail are enough for an initial scope.
